Inspiration is perishable. Do it now.
One thing has become clear: the payoff for chasing excitement extends far beyond productivity-maxxing.
It is important to my deepest sense of well-being.
The biggest payoff has been to apply this philosophy at even the most micro of levels.
Excited about taking a 1-minute detour off the beaten path? Excited about messing around with ChatGPT for 10 minutes to see if, in response to an interesting new problem, I can accidentally something cool?
When I allow the payoffs to compound in the micro, it always benefits the thing I’m excited about in the macro.
That last part is important. When I see that happen, it reinforces my belief in the power of the chase. And so I get more excited. The flywheel spins.
Excitement is the more practical synonym for happiness, and it is precisely what you should strive to chase. It is the cure-all.
